JOB TITLE: Aircraft Structural Mechanic I

LOCATION: Savannah, GA

PAY RATE: $21.21/hour

Summary:

  • In a team-oriented environment and under moderate supervision, performs various structural assembly operations in production.

  • Assemble and fit detail parts and structures, perform drilling and riveting operations to ensure compliance with specifications.

  • Rivet structural assemblies and parts using necessary tools (e.g., portable riveting guns, pneumatic drills).

  • Interpret work orders, blueprints, sketches, and operation sheets to determine operations sequence and rivet specifications.

  • Conduct thorough inspections to ensure defect-free assemblies before final inspection.

  • Maintain and utilize logs and records (e.g., MIR sheets, DMTs).

  • Align and assemble parts using jigs, fixtures, and fasteners.

  • Maintain orderly work area, adhere to 5S Program, and comply with safety regulations.

  • Work under moderate supervision, support Lean Activities, and perform assigned duties.

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned.

Required Skills:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.

  • 1 year of related structural assembly experience.

  • Experience with Solumina and Smarteam preferred.

  • Graduates of Savannah Tech Aircraft Structures Technical Certificate Program may receive one year of experience credit.

  • Ability to read and interpret basic blueprints and use a 6" scale.

  • Basic computer skills required.

  • Proficiency in shop math and reading comprehension.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and ability to work with diverse teams and meet deadlines.

  • Demonstrated adherence to housekeeping and safety practices.

  • Ability to work with composite resins and materials.

  • Capability to lift up to 50 lbs, work any shift, and access small or confined spaces using ladders or stands.
