About the Opportunity

We are conducting an Assistant Controller search on behalf of a well-established manufacturing company. The company is seeking a hands-on, experienced Accounting professional who can strengthen financial operations and bring stability, leadership, and structure to the accounting function.

This role offers an exciting opportunity to help drive the future of the organization's finance function, improve the accuracy and reliability of financial reporting, and help lead process improvement initiatives across multiple accounting disciplines.

This is a key leadership hire with visibility to the leadership team and strong potential for long-term career growth within the organization.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the monthly financial close process, including journal entries, reconciliations, and variance/flux analysis to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.

• Oversee all general accounting functions, including cost accounting, fixed assets, accounts payable, accounts receivable, etc.

• Partner with internal stakeholders to align operational activities with financial reporting and improve understanding of the data behind the numbers.

• Collaborate with leadership to support budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis.

• Review, improve, and implement standardized policies and procedures to ensure strong internal controls and operational efficiency.

• Support and coordinate internal and external audits, ensuring full compliance with all applicable financial regulations.

• Mentor and supervise a team of accounting professionals, supporting their growth and ensuring alignment with company standards.

• Play a hands-on role in correcting legacy balance sheet issues, strengthening team capabilities, and leading by example in fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

• Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance required; MBA or advanced degree is a plus.

• CPA certification is a plus but not required

• Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in finance/accounting, including 1+ years in a leadership capacity.

• Proven success in manufacturing environments is required .

• Strong technical foundation in GL, financial close, compliance, and internal controls.

• A strong process mindset and the ability to train and develop others in understanding operational drivers behind financial transactions.

• Demonstrated ability to balance hands-on execution with leadership responsibilities.
