Position Overview The Construction Estimator / Preconstruction Coordinator is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and coordinating preconstruction activities for various construction projects. This role involves collaborating with project teams to ensure successful project planning and execution, optimizing costs while maintaining quality standards.
Key Responsibilities - Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects based on blueprints and specifications.
- Conduct site assessments to understand project requirements and constraints.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to develop project budgets and schedules.
- Assist in bid preparation and contractor selection processes.
- Negotiate contracts and agreements with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Perform value engineering to identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.
- Ensure compliance with building codes and regulations throughout the estimating process.
- Maintain accurate records of estimates, budgets, and project documentation.
- Utilize estimating software such as Sage Estimating and Timberline for effective project costing.
- Communicate effectively with team members and external partners to facilitate smooth project execution.
Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a construction estimator or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of cost estimation methods and practices.
- Familiarity with construction management software and tools, particularly Sage Estimating and Timberline.
- Excellent understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction materials.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with attention to detail.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills for team collaboration.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
