Construction Contract Administrator / Construction Paralegal

Location: Addison, TX

Employment Type: Full-time | 100% on-site

Pay: $65,000 - $85,000 + 10% bonus

Overview:

The Construction Contracts Administrator/Paralegal is responsible for managing, reviewing, and negotiating contracts with clients to ensure legal and operational terms align with company policies and industry standards. This role involves performing technical tasks, interacting with customers, and providing data to the team to track project status, ensure compliance, and identify issues requiring resolution. Additionally, the position plays a critical role in contract lifecycle management, regulatory compliance, and risk mitigation to support the legal and operational functions of the company.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review and negotiate contracts with clients.
  • Identify key potential risks in contractual terms and collaborate with senior leadership to develop mitigation strategies.
  • Maintain and organize an effective contract tracking system to manage deadlines, renewals, and amendments.
  • Provide support in resolving contractual negotiations and disputes, liaising with internal teams and external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Draft and maintain standard contract templates and procedures, ensuring compliance with current laws and best practices.
  • Provide training and guidance to project teams on contractual matters, processes, and best practices.
  • Prepare reports on contract statuses, compliance, and risk issues for senior leadership.
  • Assist Project Accountants with finalizing contracts and setting up construction projects, including research, form preparation, filing, calendaring, and tracking applications through the process.
  • Assist with proposal management and tracking of deadlines and due dates.
  • Ensure compliance with legal, regulatory, and internal policies by maintaining accurate records and documents.
  • Manage the compliance team to ensure all projects, deadlines, and requirements are met on time, and that all required documentation is accurately submitted to General Contractors.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience as a paralegal or in a similar legal administrative role, with expertise in legal research, document preparation, and case management.
  • Prior work experience in construction law or managing, reviewing, and negotiating construction-related contracts.
  • Associate's degree in Paralegal Studies, Legal Studies, or a related field from an accredited program, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field with relevant coursework.
  • A Paralegal Certificate is required. Paralegal certification from NALA, NFPA, or another nationally recognized legal organization is a plus.
  • Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of formal education for qualified candidates.
  • Strong knowledge of legal terminology, legal procedures, and document formatting.
  • Proficiency in legal research.
  • Advanced technology skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with internal departments, legal professionals, clients, and stakeholders.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines.
