We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Professional (DSP) to join our team. In this role, you will provide direct care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, administer medications as prescribed, and ensure a safe and healthy environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Direct Care and Support:
- Assist individuals with daily living activities (e.g., personal hygiene, meal preparation, household tasks).
- Support individuals in accessing community resources and participating in recreational activities.
- Encourage and facilitate independence and self-advocacy among individuals served.
Medication Administration:
- Administer medications as prescribed by healthcare providers.
- Maintain accurate medication administration records in compliance with DC Department of Health regulations.
- Monitor for medication side effects and report concerns to healthcare providers.
Documentation and Reporting:
- Maintain detailed and accurate documentation including daily logs, incident reports, and progress notes.
- Communicate effectively with team members, healthcare providers, and families for coordinated care.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure a safe and clean environment for individuals served.
- Implement and follow individualized support plans and behavioral intervention plans.
- Respond to emergencies, providing first aid or CPR as needed.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (additional education in a related field is a plus).
- Experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable transportation and ability to travel within the community.
- Must have either TME License or DDA Training Phase 1 & 3
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift and move individuals as needed.
- Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, lifting, and standing for extended periods.
