EHS Training Specialist

📍 Location: Multiple Sites (Manufacturing & Construction) | 💼 Reports to: Safety Director / Learning & Development | 💰 Pay: Commensurate with experience

Role Overview

The EHS Training Specialist delivers dynamic, compliant, and engaging safety training programs for all new employees and contractors entering manufacturing or construction environments. This role ensures every team member understands the company’s safety culture, hazard awareness expectations, and regulatory compliance requirements before beginning work. The position also manages all training records and partners cross-functionally to plan, schedule, and improve role-specific safety programs.

Key Responsibilities

New Hire & Contractor Orientation

  • Facilitate in-person and virtual safety orientations covering company policies, OSHA-required topics, and site-specific hazards.
  • Deliver interactive hand tool and power tool safety training.
  • Partner with Learning & Talent Development (L&TD), supervisors, and HR to schedule sessions and ensure all compliance steps are completed.
  • Use translation software (TranslateLive! ILA) to deliver multilingual training.

Authorized & Qualified Person Training

  • Conduct advanced safety courses for employees performing high-risk or specialized work (e.g., electrical safety, fall protection, scaffolding, rigging, confined space, and hot work).
  • Verify knowledge and skill competency through demonstrations and assessments.
  • Maintain training materials to align with OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, and company standards.

Training Records & Digital Management

  • Maintain accurate training records within the company’s digital safety management software.
  • Track qualification renewals and generate reports for audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Ensure confidentiality and data integrity across all training documentation.

Compliance & Continuous Improvement

  • Monitor regulatory changes and update training accordingly.
  • Collaborate with Learning & Development to enhance onboarding programs.
  • Develop new safety modules to support evolving operational needs and technologies.

Qualifications & Experience

  • 3+ years of experience in safety training, EHS management, or related roles within manufacturing or construction.
  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Hygiene, or related field preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, CHST, or OHST are highly desirable.
  • Strong knowledge of OSHA 29 CFR 1910/1926 and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Skilled in developing and delivering engaging safety programs—both classroom and field-based.
  • Proficient in digital safety software, recordkeeping, and reporting.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills with the ability to engage diverse audiences.

Work Environment & Travel

  • Balance of office, manufacturing, and construction site environments.
  • Regular exposure to production areas, machinery, and field conditions requiring PPE.
  • Routine travel (15–30%) to multiple sites across the organization’s network.
  • Physical ability to walk, climb, and lift up to 50 lbs as part of training activities.
