Job Title: Surge (Processing) Support Supervisor – Eligibility Specialist

Location: Texas / Remote

Experience: Minimum 5 years

Employment Type: Contract

Work Hours: 9-hour workdays

Job Summary:

We are seeking a Surge (Processing) Support Supervisor to assist state clients in supporting Integrated Eligibility Systems (IES) , focusing on Medicaid, Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), and Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) programs. The ideal candidate has prior experience working with state government agencies as an eligibility specialist , along with a strong ability to manage high-volume case processing, train field staff, and support technology adoption projects. This role requires adaptability, professionalism, and the ability to work efficiently under pressure in a remote environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Evaluate data from multiple sources and accurately enter information into a computer-based eligibility system .
  • Determine and compute benefits based on eligibility program guidelines .
  • Utilize fact-finding techniques to obtain, verify, and analyze information provided by applicants.
  • Read, interpret, and apply state and federal regulations and policies governing eligibility programs.
  • Perform basic arithmetic functions to determine eligibility and benefits.
  • Manage time effectively, prioritizing tasks based on importance and deadlines .
  • Support field teams and caseworkers in the adoption of new eligibility system technologies .
  • Train and mentor staff on policy changes, system updates, and best practices .
  • Ensure compliance with state and federal eligibility program requirements .
  • Maintain professionalism and composure while handling high-pressure situations and resolving escalations.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience : Minimum 5 years of experience working with state government agencies as an eligibility specialist .
  • Integrated Eligibility Systems (IES) : Hands-on experience supporting Medicaid, SNAP, and TANF programs .
  • Technology Adoption : Experience with statewide system implementations and process improvement initiatives .
  • Field Support & Training : Ability to train caseworkers and assist in technology transition projects .
  • Analytical Skills : Strong ability to assess eligibility case data and ensure accuracy in benefit determination.
  • Regulatory Knowledge : Familiarity with state and federal policies governing eligibility and benefits programs.
  • Problem-Solving : Ability to handle complex eligibility scenarios and escalate issues as needed .
  • Interpersonal Skills : Strong communication skills with a professional and empathetic approach to applicants and team members.
  • Time Management : Proven ability to manage workload efficiently , prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
