About the role

We are seeking a detail-oriented and collaborative Taste R&D Laboratory Technician to support our Flavorists and cross-functional teams in developing innovative taste solutions. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, efficiency, and safety of our lab operations while contributing to the creation of differentiated flavor products.

Key responsibilities

  • Accurately pour and weight all ingredients specified in formulation, ensuring accuracy of code numbers and description and weights.
  • Follow all safety protocols in the laboratory, warehouse and the plant.
  • Assist Flavorists in creating value added Taste products with a point of difference by utilizing innovative technologies and differentiating Taste raw materials.
  • Assess new flavors, ingredients and technologies in simple solutions for supporting Flavorists creating and optimizing differentiating Taste solutions.
  • Organize and prepare samples for tasting sessions with Flavorist and application team members for both lab evaluations and sensory panels.
  • Collaborate with cross functional teams including R&D technologists, plant/production, sampling/quality, shipping/receiving, project managers, application staff, and others working in the same project.
  • Ensure efficient experiments throughput projects by organizing and maintaining laboratory equipment, supplies, stocks, and flavor ingredients adhering to the safety and hygiene protocols.
  • Participate in sensory panels and other developmental opportunity sample evaluations.
  • Perform other duties as assigned pertaining to business/project needs. Key Deliverables
  • Define optimal dosages of new ingredients and technologies for their functionality in simple evaluation bases as well as in the model application systems instructed by partnering application team members.
  • Build and maintain tasting evaluation data for future project references.
  • Master company software and systems for executing day-to-day Taste R&D lab work.
  • Preparation and shipment of R&D lab sample requests for internal customers, i.e. collaboration team members globally.
  • Follow through and complete assigned tasks within due dates; be proactive as necessary seeking information to complete the job.

Qualifications and skills

  • Bachelor of Science in chemistry or food science.
  • 3-5 years’ experience working in the food industry or lab environment.
  • Familiar with experimental design, standard laboratory data logging and reporting.

The typical hiring range for this role is $41,446 to $67,209 annually and is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, location, etc. In addition to your pay, Kerry offers benefits such as a comprehensive benefits package, incentive and recognition programs, equity stock purchase and retirement contribution (all benefits and incentives are subject to eligibility requirements).
