Position Summary
The IT Director of Quality Assurance is a strategic leadership role responsible for establishing and driving a comprehensive quality assurance strategy across all IT engineering processes. This individual will be a key partner to the CTO and other stakeholders, ensuring the delivery of high-quality software and systems that align with company goals. The Director will foster a unified team environment between application and QA engineers, mentor QA contractors, and promote a culture of continuous improvement through Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.What will your job entail?
Job Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy and policies with defined standards and benchmarks aligned with company goals.
Act as the functional lead for QA contractors across all business units, ensuring consistent quality and adherence to standards.
Define and report key quality metrics to leadership, providing insights into the effectiveness of QA processes.
Ensure traceability between requirements, tests, bugs, and defects, maintaining a clear audit trail.
Ensure compliance with relevant industry regulations and standards.
Process and Collaboration:
Work closely with stakeholders to integrate quality assurance into all engineering processes.
Promote a direct, cohesive relationship between application and QA engineers, fostering a unified team environment.
Support a regular cadence of delivering both manual QA tests alongside newly developed code and consistent contribution to automated regression testing suites.
Ensure proper test coverage and identify inefficiencies and process gaps, driving continuous improvement.
Promote Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies, facilitating a culture of continuous integration and delivery.
Participate in planning meetings to provide valuable QA perspective and ensure quality considerations are integrated into project plans.
Team Management and Mentorship:
Mentor and guide QA contractors, ensuring they deliver high-quality QA activities.
Monitor QA contractor workload to ensure work is delivered as expected with the right level of quality and completeness.
Coordinate staffing and scheduling for QA contractors to ensure proper coverage.
Provide feedback and coaching to team members to improve quality and efficiency.
Reporting and Communication:
Communicate test results, risks, and issues clearly and effectively to leadership.
Generate ad hoc reports from various applicable systems/databases as requested.
Report findings and observations to management based on established quality standards and processes.
Quality Assurance and Control:
Perform quality reviews of QA team to verify accuracy and adherence to quality standards.
Provide recommendations and corrective actions in response to quality findings.
Perform follow-up review of maintenance activities to ensure identified items are updated correctly in applicable systems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 8+ years of experience in quality assurance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Proven experience developing and implementing QA strategies and policies.
Strong understanding of Agile, DevOps, and CI/CD methodologies.
Experience managing and mentoring QA teams, including contractors.
Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
Strong analytical and reporting skills.
Experience with test automation tools and frameworks.
Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance standards.
Experience with KPI tracking and quality auditing.
Experience in the insurance industry is a plus.
Insurance-related field or professional insurance designation (CPCU, AAI, CIC, ARM ) is a plus.

The target salary range for this position is $116,700.00 - $116,700.00 annually.The wage range for this role considers many factors, such as training, transferable skills, work experience, licensure and certification, business needs, and market demands. The pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. Full-time roles are eligible for bonuses and benefits.
