Pingree School seeks an accomplished and enthusiastic world language instructor to teach five sections of Mandarin Chinese beginning in the 2025-2026 school year. This is a full-time, academic year position.
Language instruction at Pingree focuses on building students' proficiency and confidence in reading, writing, listening, and speaking in the target language. The successful candidate will be fluent in Mandarin Chinese and will have experience with and a passion for teaching in the target language at multiple levels within a secondary school setting. Pingree seeks candidates who value creativity and innovation, and who are skilled at integrating educational technology in a student-centered classroom. The position will include teaching across all levels of our Mandarin Chinese curriculum from the beginning level through APEX, therefore interested candidates should be motivated to review and refine the scope and sequence of our curriculum. We seek candidates with excellent interpersonal and organizational skills who are eager to explore collaborative and interdisciplinary teaching. The successful candidate believes in integrating cultural learning along with language learning, which may include designing and teaching thematic, trimester-long seminars and embedding experiential learning and projects into the curriculum. Candidates should have a demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusion and experience integrating anti-racism curriculum into language teaching and coursework.
In addition to teaching five sections of Mandarin Chinese, the position will include serving as an advisor. Candidates must exhibit both a passion for their subject matter, as well as a commitment to working with adolescents both inside and outside of the classroom.
Interested candidates should submit a cover letter and resume, along with contact information for two professional references, to Careers@pingree.org.
