Job Description

We are currently seeking a Medical Coding Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for translating patient medical records into the proper codes used by insurers to process claims. Your work ensures accurate and efficient billing, helping us maintain the highest standards of care and service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assigning and sequencing codes accurately according to government and insurance regulations.
  • Ensuring compliance with medical coding guidelines and policies.
  • Reviewing patients' charts and documentation for verification and accuracy.
  • Following up on unclear information with medical staff to ensure proper documentation.
  • Compiling physician-provided information from various sources to prepare monthly reports.
  • Completing RAF (Risk Adjustment Factor) coding to ensure proper identification and reporting of patient health risks.

Requirements:

Required/Preferred Qualifications:

  • A strong understanding of medical terms
  • Proficiency in computer skills including typing speed and accuracy
  • Medical coding certification preferred
  • EClinicalWorks (ECW) and knowledge of medical terminology preferred

  • Strong organizational skills and professional demeanor
  • Ability to maintain a high level of integrity and confidentiality of medical information
  • Strict attention to details
  • Knowledge of data entry and transcription.

  • Have strong communication skills.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and adapt to new responsibilities quickly.

Schedule:

This position reports to the Billing Manager. The schedule is M-F, 8:30AM-5:00PM.
