About Us:

Public Works Products is a manufacturer's representative specializing in waterworks products, with a primary focus on the municipal industry. We are looking for a proactive, solutions-driven Outside Sales Representative —not an order taker. This role requires someone who can think creatively, adapt quickly , and build strong relationships with engineers, contractors, and supply houses. If you have the ability to "read the room," ask the right questions , and know when to listen and when to speak, you may be the perfect fit for our team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ask smart questions to uncover customer needs and offer thoughtful solutions.
  • Take initiative to find opportunities—don’t wait for them to come to you.
  • Build strong relationships with engineers, contractors, and supply houses.
  • Read the room and adapt your approach to fit the audience.
  • Drive new business with cold calls, meetings, and presentations.

What to Expect:

  • The role will begin as an Inside Sales position, allowing you to become familiar with our industry, products, and processes.
  • As you develop your knowledge and confidence, you will transition into an Outside Sales role, working directly with engineers, contractors, and supply houses in the field.
  • You will receive ongoing training and support throughout this transition to set you up for success.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Proactive, self-starter —you create your own work and don't wait for instructions.
  • Active listening skills —you know the best insights come from asking the right questions and truly listening.
  • Attention to detail —you catch the small things that others might miss, ensuring accuracy in quotes, communications, and follow-ups.
  • Adaptability & resourcefulness —you adjust to different people and situations.
  • Tech savvy —familiar with CRM tools (like HubSpot) and MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Willing to travel locally and regionally for customer meetings and events.

Preferred:

  • Established relationships within the waterworks industry.
  • Knowledge of the waterworks industry , including construction processes, utility drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience in outside sales or customer-facing roles.
