Job Description

Job Title: Scrum Master

Location: Pittsburgh, PA (Hybrid)

Join a globally recognized financial institution as a Scrum Master, where innovation meets impact. We’re looking for a passionate and experienced Scrum Master to help lead agile transformation efforts within a high-performing development team. This role is central to promoting Agile values, fostering a culture of collaboration, and enabling teams to deliver exceptional products and services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Champion Agile/Scrum best practices to consistently deliver value to customers.
  • Coach teams and the broader organization on Agile values and principles to increase agility and self-organization.
  • Guide the team in navigating the intentional gaps within the Scrum framework, enabling them to operate autonomously.
  • Assess team Agile maturity and coach toward higher performance at a sustainable pace.
  • Identify and remove impediments, or help the team find the right resources to do so.
  • Create a safe and trusting environment where open communication and problem-solving thrive.
  • Facilitate team ceremonies and ensure work gets done through collaboration—not coercion or top-down direction.
  • Support effective communication both within the team and with external stakeholders to improve transparency and alignment.
  • Assist Product Owners with backlog refinement, prioritization, and stakeholder engagement.
  • Lead by example through servant leadership, fostering continuous improvement and empowerment.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrated experience serving as a Scrum Master on a software development team that actively applied Scrum principles and practices.
  • Strong foundation in servant leadership, facilitation, coaching, situational awareness, conflict resolution, and increasing team transparency.
  • Familiarity with various Scrum implementation techniques (e.g., different Burndown formats, Retrospective styles, bug-handling strategies).
  • Knowledge of complementary Agile frameworks and methodologies (e.g., XP, Kanban, Crystal, FDD).
  • Experience with Agile development practices such as User Stories, ATDD, TDD, Continuous Integration, Continuous Testing, Pair Programming, and Agile Games.
  • Understanding of the technologies leveraged by development teams, with the ability to bridge gaps between technical and non-technical stakeholders.
