Special Education Teacher (Mild/Moderate) – Elementary Level

Location: Charter School, Compton, CA

Position Type: Full-Time

Start Date: ASP

Job Summary:

Our Charter School is seeking a dedicated and credentialed Special Education Teacher (Mild/Moderate) for the elementary level. The ideal candidate will provide specialized instruction and support to students with mild to moderate disabilities, ensuring an inclusive and effective learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) in collaboration with staff and parents.
  • Provide differentiated instruction tailored to meet students' diverse learning needs.
  • Work closely with general education teachers to support students in both inclusive and pull-out settings.
  • Assess students' academic and behavioral progress and adjust teaching methods accordingly.
  • Foster a supportive classroom environment that promotes students’ social-emotional growth and independence.
  • Utilize data-driven decision-making to improve student learning outcomes.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and comply with all state and federal special education regulations.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and multidisciplinary teams regarding student progress.
  • Participate in IEP meetings, professional development, and school-wide initiatives.

Qualifications:

  • California Mild/Moderate Education Specialist Credential (Required).
  • Experience working with elementary-age students in a special education setting preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of IEP development, accommodations, and behavioral interventions.
  • Effective classroom management and collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
