Key Responsibilities:

Assessment and Diagnosis:

Conduct thorough assessments to evaluate speech, language, communication, and swallowing disorders.

Analyze speech patterns, language comprehension, speech fluency, articulation, and cognitive-communication skills.

Use diagnostic tools and tests to determine the nature and severity of speech and language disorders.

Treatment and Therapy:

  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on assessment findings.
  • Provide speech and language therapy to individuals with articulation disorders, language disorders, pragmatic language disorders, and fluency disorders. 
  • Work on language development, cognitive-communication strategies, and social communication skills.

Collaboration and Education:

  • Work closely with other healthcare professionals, teachers, and parents to ensure effective treatment strategies.
  • Educate clients, families, and caregivers on communication techniques and coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to provide holistic care and ensure overall well-being.

Documentation and Progress Monitoring:

  • Maintain detailed records of patient assessments, treatment plans, and progress.
  • Regularly evaluate and modify therapy techniques based on patient progress and feedback.
  • Prepare reports for healthcare providers, schools, or other stakeholders involved in patient care.

Client Advocacy:

  • Advocate for individuals with speech and language disorders to ensure they receive appropriate care and support.
  • Assist clients in setting realistic goals to improve their communication abilities and quality of life.
Qualifications:
  • Education: A Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
  • Licensing/Certification: State licensure and certification by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA) or equivalent.

Skills:

  • Strong knowledge of speech and language disorders.
  • Excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work with diverse populations.
