Job Description

BHE GT&S has an exciting opportunity as a Telecommunications Technician 1/2/3 at our Cornwell Station located in Clendenin, WV.

Responsibilities

  • Guides and directs a team of technicians involved in activities related to network monitoring, operations, installation, and/or maintenance for local off-site and/or remote locations.
  • Instructs, directs, and checks the work of telecommunications technician personnel.
  • Works with an individual business unit on multi-project assignments.
  • Monitors project's progress and results. Errors may cause significant delay, expense, and disruption.

Qualifications

Telecom Technician 1: 

0-2 years' related experience.

  • Experience in network and telecommunications applications required.
  • Basic knowledge of all areas of telecommunications.
  • Ability to work on telecommunications systems and equipment. 
  • Ability to analyze trouble reports and perform maintenance of telecommunications equipment. 
  • Strong aptitude for technical understanding.
  • Skills to communicate with various departments, internal groups, and external customer groups to perform work.
  • Has awareness of customer requirements, with emphasis on major initiatives. 
  • Ability to set priorities and demonstrate timely and effective response to customer and team member needs. 
  • Understanding of business unit methods and processes within the realm of responsibility. 
  • Ability to respond effectively to diverse demands. 
  • Ability to respond effectively and timely to the needs and requirements of the business units. 
  • Must provide personal availability and maintain rotation on call status.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds. 
  • Must be able to see color and distinguish between colors.

Telecom Technician 2: 

At least 3 years' experience in network and telecommunications applications is required.

  • Knowledgeable in all areas of telecommunications.
  • Ability to work on complex telecommunications systems and equipment. 
  • Ability to analyze trouble reports and perform maintenance, or provide recommendations for problem correction of telecommunications equipment. 
  • Ability to maintain and update telecommunications equipment, circuit prints, drawings, and records. 
  • Ability to answer peer questions.
  • Ability to assist and direct co-workers and other technical groups. 
  • Ability to coordinate and plan telecommunication work with various departments, internal groups, and external customer groups.
  • Awareness of customer requirements with emphasis on major initiatives. 
  • Ability to set priorities and demonstrate timely and effective response to customer and team member needs. 
  • Broad understanding of methods and processes of business units within the realm of responsibility. 
  • Ability to respond effectively to diverse demands. 
  • Ability to respond effectively and timely to the needs and requirements of the business units. 
  • Must provide personal availability and maintain rotation on call status.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds. 
  • Must be able to see color and distinguish between colors.

Telecom Technician 3: 

At least 5 years' experience in network and telecommunications applications is required.

  • Considered a technical expert, knowledgeable in all areas of telecommunications.
  • Ability to work on complex, telecommunications systems and equipment. 
  • Ability to analyze trouble reports and perform maintenance, or provide recommendations for problem correction.
  • Ability to act as a lead worker and provide direction and training to subordinates and other technical groups. 
  • Must possess skills to interact with various departments, internal groups, and external groups to plan, schedule, and coordinate necessary telecommunications work.
  • Awareness of customer requirements, with emphasis on major initiatives. 
  • Ability to set priorities, and to demonstrate timely and effective response to customer and team member needs. 
  • Broad understanding of methods and processes of the business units within the realm of responsibility. 
  • Ability to respond effectively to diverse demands . 
  • Ability to respond effectively and timely to the needs and requirements of the business units. 
  • Must provide personal availability and maintain rotation on call status.
  • Must be able to lift 45 pounds. 
  • Must be able to see color, and distinguish between colors.
  • May be involved in national or international committees, and required to write technical reports, papers, or procedures, with little or no supervision.
