SUMMARY
Family Service League is seeking a per-diem Advocate for a homeless shelter in Smithtown, NY. The Advocate is responsible for ensuring the safety of families and their children, interacting, and providing support to families and children, enforcing shelter rules, completing intake consent forms, conducting curfew checks, providing transportation, and turning over units for new clients as clients are periodically discharged from the shelter.
**$1,500 Sign-On Bonus!**
RESPONSIBILITIES
QUALIFICATIONS
High school diploma or equivalent required.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in Human Services or related field preferred.
Knowledge of the homeless population and DSS policies and regulations.
Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills required.
Computer proficiency, including Microsoft Office, required.
Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
Valid and clean NYS Driver’s License required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be able to go up and down stairs.
Compensation details: 18.5-18.5 Hourly Wage
