Position Overview:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all external communication channels, including social media platforms, website, email marketing, and press relations.
  • Create and maintain a social/communications calendar to ensure timely and consistent communication across all platforms.
  • Oversee the creation of all marketing assets, including graphics, print materials, digital ads, newsletters, and more.
  • Ensure consistency and clarity in all communications, maintaining the FEF brand, voice, and visual identity.
  • Coordinate media outreach, including press releases, media partnerships, and cultivate relations with influential members of supporting industries.

Content Creation:

  • Write, create, and edit content for a variety of platforms, including newsletters, impact reports, program collateral, email campaigns, and social media posts.
  • With the support of the executive team, develop and execute content marketing campaigns to engage donors, partners, and the community.
  • Highlight the organization’s impact by telling compelling stories of the communities and individuals we serve.

Social Media Management:

  • Lead the strategy, content creation, and management for all social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, LinkedIn, etc.).
  • Engage with followers, respond to inquiries, and foster an active, engaged online community.
  • Monitor and analyze social media performance and adjust strategies as needed to grow engagement.

Collaborative Projects:

  • Work closely with the Executive Director, executive team, and program team to develop strategies for fundraising events, donor campaigns, and other various initiatives.
  • Support the creation of donor and board communications, including annual reports and donor/board updates.
  • Collaborate with external agencies or contractors for specialized projects (e.g., video production, photography, etc.).

Metrics & Reporting:

  • Track, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of campaigns, social media performance, and overall communication efforts.
  • Use data insights to refine strategies and improve engagement and fundraising results.

What Will Set You Apart :

  • Experience in a fast paced nonprofit and/or start-up industry; knowledge of donor relations and data storytelling.
  • Sees connections that others do not, successfully applies ideas drawn from seemingly unrelated contexts, and generates a wide array of useful solutions to solve problems.
  • Understanding of how to operate within organizations of scale and in a fluctuating environment.
  • Flexible writing skills – from content copy, to donor reports, and award submissions.
  • Effectively persuades others, remains diplomatic in difficult situations, and leverages a large network of relationships for the good of the mission.
  • Data-oriented, leveraging key metrics to identify new opportunities.

Experience:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role.
  • Proven success in developing and executing marketing and communications campaigns.
  • Experience working in a fast pace/nonprofit environment is a plus.
  • Proven track record in work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

Skills & Expertise:

Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on storytelling and engaging content.

  • Proficient in social media platforms, marketing tools (Hootsuite, Mailchimp, etc.), and analytics tools (Google Analytics, etc.).
  • Expertise in graphic design software (Adobe Creative Suite or similar), video editing tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Strong understanding of branding and experience maintaining a consistent brand identity across all communication platforms.

Personal Characteristics:

  • Passion for workforce development, education, hospitality, and social impact.
  • Creative and innovative thinker who can develop fresh ideas and solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-starter with the ability to work autonomously and collaboratively.

Additional Information:

  • This position will require flexibility in working hours, including occasional evenings and weekends for events or urgent communications needs.
  • As a key member of the team, the Director of Marketing and Communications will have the opportunity to shape and grow the organization's public image and messaging.
