Job Description

As a director of SCADhome communities, you will oversee the implementation of the department’s community development plan. This includes program models, department-wide initiatives, and collaborations with faculty and staff to execute awareness programming and improve the residential experience. Responsibilities include the development of year-round residence life staff training programs to support the department’s community development plan, such as training on implementing and assessing department values, target areas, and learning outcomes. Additionally, you will create digital and physical community development resources, including manuals, forms, and a university contact list, to assist staff in their efforts.

In this role, you will collaborate with the senior director of housing operations to manage room changes, roommate requests, inspections, consolidations, and occupancy reports. You will oversee residence hall openings, closings, check-ins, and checkouts; monitor student conduct issues within residence halls to respond as needed; and handle emergency or crisis situations. Among other duties, you will communicate with SCAD families about residence hall policies, processes, and concerns, and serve as the on-call manager during duty rotations. You will also act as an upper-level hearing and investigative officer for alleged violations of the Code of Student Conduct and support residence directors and paraprofessional staff in their investigations by documenting and adjudicating alleged code violations.

In this position, you will regularly meet with new and returning student account representatives, admissions staff, and housing staff to complete training sessions. Similarly, you will hire, train, supervise, and evaluate student work-study employees. Responsibilities include collaborations with the office of admission to host successful summer program conferences; the implementation of year-round social, educational, diversity, and leadership program offerings; and budget preparation and management. You will also coordinate office participation in SCAD Days. This position is identified as essential personnel in the university's emergency and disaster response plans. In the event of a university closure or evacuation, all essential personnel shall report.
