JOB DESCRIPTION: Angel Kids Foundation Executive Director

ABOUT ANGEL KIDS FOUNDATION: Angel Kids Foundation Inc. is a 501 (c)(3) non-profit organization committed to connecting people and resources in our community to address health disparities and provide equitable healthcare supports for all. Our desire is to nurture, educate and support children and families to allow them to thrive in their own surroundings. Founded in 2017, by Ashraf Affan, MD, Angel Kids Foundation is driven by the vision to aid children and families in underserved communities where poverty is extreme, commitment to education is low, employment opportunities are limited, and access to high quality physical and mental health care is lacking. Angel Kids Foundation was created to link together parent voice and community-based partners to seek solutions to addressing the social determinants of health.

ABOUT THE ROLE: The Executive Director’s (ED) role is to advance its vision of eliminating health inequities towards a future in which all residents have equal access to healthcare and the

opportunity to live healthy lives. The initiatives are locally in Jacksonville, Fl and globally with main efforts to the children and families residing in the war-torn area of Sudan. The Foundation is seeking a highly motivated and talented leader to guide the organization, sustain and expand the organization’s role as advocate and convener within the healthcare and behavioral health community. Building capacity and funding sources is critical for our communities of Jacksonville, FL. The ideal candidate will have deep experience in cultivating productive relationships with major donors, have a proven track record of success in fundraising, have general knowledge of healthcare and behavioral health challenges both on a local and global level, including awareness of the social determinants of health, and possess excellent communication abilities in both spoken and written form. We are looking for an ED who will conduct themselves with the highest degree of dignity, integrity and transparency. Bi-lingual skill desirable.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Fundraising & Communications:

  • Lead and expand local revenue generating and fundraising activities to support grantmaking, operations and potentially regional expansion.

  • Develop, administer and lead grant making processes to include collaborative proposals and determine recommendations for funding.

  • Deepen and refine all aspects of communications—from web presence to external relations with the goal of creating a stronger brand.

  • Create at least one fundraising event per year.

  • Maintain CRM/tracker (NFG) for current and potential funders/donors, including acknowledgements and receipts.

  • Use external presence and relationships to garner & secure new funding and partnership opportunities.

  • Provide compelling strategic direction and management expertise as the leader of the organization.

  • Maintain all aspects of non-profit/charitable status for the organization.

  • Serve as chief spokesperson, and overall brand ambassador and champion for Angel Kids Foundation through advocacy and thought leadership.

  • Provide vision and strategic insight to the Board for fulfilling the mission of the organization, utilizing input from multiple sources, including external and internal constituents.

  • Develop annual strategic plans, including one specific to fundraising to report on progress in achieving goals, finances, HR and program expansion.

  • Drive the development and implementation of evidence-based/promising practice programs, interventions and initiatives that address social determinants of health, public health, and behavioral health in marginalized communities.

  • Foster a culture of interdisciplinary teamwork and communication to drive the successful integration of behavioral health services, ultimately improving outcomes and addressing the holistic well-being of individuals served by the organization.

  • Oversight and management of the day-to-day operations of grants that support the integration of Behavioral Health and Social Services into primary care.

  • Identify new opportunities to build partnerships with a broad and diverse group of external constituents and leverage resources to maximize impact to make the Foundation self-sustaining.

  • Partner with external organizations to encourage the exchange of information and the building of collaborations, including future donors, corporate sponsors, and legacy donations.

  • Participate in external meetings, councils, forums, etc. to ensure AKF has the most current and relevant information to use in decision-making.

  • Achieve revenue goals, through creating and overseeing grant management systems to ensure excellence in federal and local reviews and program outcomes.

  • Generate annual funding to meet grant match and agency requirements and strategically pursuing new opportunities aligned with agency mission, vision, values and strengths.

  • Ensure the organization is fiscally and administratively sound and that its operations, compliance, marketing and communications, information systems, and fund development efforts are coordinated and support the strategies and policies agreed upon by the Board.

  • Ensure program effectiveness, scalability, and sustainability through rigorous evaluation and continuous improvement processes.

  • Lead quality growth, year over year, to serve more children and improve more lives, including future sustainability forecasting.

  • Oversight of marketing, branding and events, including fundraising activities, website and social media platforms.

  • Expand and protect the reputation of Angel Kids Foundation and promote the mission/vision/values to the community.

  • Inspire, motivate, and lead staff of multiple programs, caring for thousands of Jacksonville’s children and families.

  • Establish a culture, which ensures that the organization attracts and retains the talent necessary to successfully carry out its programs and mission.

Leadership & Management:

  • Oversee the integration of the foundation’s strategic planning & fundraising process to operationalize commitment through all activities and operations; monitor and report progress to ensure ongoing diversification of funding efforts to organizations that promote health equity on local and or global stakeholders.

  • Promote clear communication and collaboration internally to advance learning, strategy
  • refinement, innovation, as well as externally with funded partners to ensure alignment and attainment of stated goals.

  • Create a culture of philanthropy: engage board members in actively cultivating and stewarding relationships with existing donors and new prospects.

Education and Experience

Graduate degree in human services related field, public administration, business administration, or law preferred. Bachelor’s degree and 6+ years of executive experience with a proven record of accomplishment and demonstrated expertise in the non-profit sector required.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ED will be thoroughly committed to the Foundation’s mission. All candidates should have proven leadership, coaching, and relationship management experience to include:

  • At least 6+ years (less if Master’s Degree) of senior management experience in a nonprofit organization; proven track record of effectively leading and regionally scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff.

  • Demonstrated experience providing quality programs and data-driven program evaluation.

  • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures.

  • Strong written and public speaking skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with
  • excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills.

  • Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget.

  • Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing & new board member relationships.

  • Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning.

  • Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people.

  • Passion, idealism, integrity, positive attitude, mission-driven, and self-directed.

  • Experience in nonprofit policy, advocacy and influencing systems-level change required.

  • Knowledge of nonprofit governance and compliance requirements.

  • Demonstrated track-record of securing significant funding from diverse sources and ensuring financial sustainability.

  • Excellent strategic planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Bilingual skills a plus.

SALARY RANGE: $75,000 - $80,000 A Year

Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
