Primary Purpose:
The Financial Data Analyst supports the CFO by providing detailed financial analysis, modeling, and reporting to ensure sound fiscal decision-making. This role focuses on the accuracy, organization, and usefulness of financial data without participating in external presentations. The analyst works across internal departments to pull data, run calculations, and maintain key dashboards and financial models used in executive decision-making.
This position is ideal for someone who prefers working behind the scenes, turning raw numbers into clarity, and ensuring financial information is audit-ready, accurate, and aligned with TEA compliance standards.

Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
* Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Data Analytics, Economics, or related field
Special Knowledge/Skills:
* Advanced Excel skills required (formulas, lookups, pivot tables, error checks)
* Experience working with financial data systems such as Skyward, TEAMS, or Munis
* Highly detail-oriented with the ability to clean, reconcile, and organize complex data
* Comfortable working independently without external-facing duties
Experience:
* Minimum 2 to 4 years in a financial analyst or accounting support role, preferably in a public, nonprofit, or K–12 environment
* Familiarity with Texas public school finance is strongly preferred
Major Responsibilities and Duties:
Financial Modeling and Analysis
* Maintain Excel-based financial models for budgeting, revenue projections, debt service tracking, enrollment analysis, and staffing cost projections
* Perform variance and trend analyses across revenue, expense, and fund activity
* Support multi-year forecasting models and cost impact scenarios under the CFO’s direction
Reporting and Internal Data Support
* Run monthly and ad hoc financial reports to support internal use by the CFO and senior finance staff
* Build and maintain internal financial dashboards (non-public-facing)
* Compile structured data to support TEA submissions, Summary of Finance reviews, or audit prep
Data Management and System Integration
* Pull data from financial systems such as Skyward, TEAMS, ADP, or PEIMS to support reconciliation and reporting
* Ensure accuracy and consistency across datasets used for budgeting, grant tracking, and payroll allocations
* Develop tools and templates to improve internal financial workflows such as reconciliation templates or import files
Compliance and Charter Finance Support
* Understand key charter school financial concepts such as FASRG codes, TEA spending requirements, and federal cost principles under EDGAR
* Assist with data validation for grant funding, restricted fund usage, and allowable cost tracking
* Maintain backup documentation for TEA and audit readiness
