The Temple Terrace Fire Department is currently recruiting for Firefighter/EMT and Firefighter/Paramedic.

YOU MUST SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETE the CPAT & FIRETEAM to be eligible to participate in the hiring process for Firefighter EMT or Firefighter/Paramedic. Once you have passed both the CPAT and FireTEAM assessments, be sure that you add your name and information to Temple Terrace Fire Department on the National Testing Network Site.

All names will be selected directly from the NTN eligibility list. If you are chosen to participate in the hiring process, you will be contacted by the Temple Terrace Fire Department after the closing date of August 1, 2025.

Salary Information:

· *$60,674.39 - $90,933.75

· *Salary includes $7,500 Paramedic incentive. Additional incentive pay up to $4,600 annually.

Department Overview: Temple Terrace Fire Department was established in 1925, providing full ALS and BLS transport. Two fire stations are located within the City of Temple Terrace, responding to approximately 4,500 calls annually. Department is comprised of 57 career administrative and operational personnel, divided among three shifts. Internationally Accredited by CFAI since 2006. ISO 1 Fire Department.

City Information: With a population of 27,000, the Temple Terrace Fire Department serves the residents and visitors of Temple Terrace and provides mutual aid assistance to the City of Tampa and Hillsborough County. The City of Temple Terrace consists of 7.5 square miles located in northeast Hillsborough County. A planned golf course community situated around the original Temple Terrace Golf and Country Club (circa 1925).

Job Requirements

Age: 18 years of age.

US Citizen: Must be a US Citizen.

High School Grad/GED: Must be a high school grad/GED.

Valid FLORIDA State Driver's License: Must have valid state driver's license.

Ability to Read/Speak English: Must be able to read and speak the English Language

Vision: As required in NFPA 1582

College: Preferred

Academy Certification: Possess a current State of Florida Firefighter I/II Certification

Other Certification: Possess a current State of Florida Paramedic and/or EMT Certification. Must obtain state of Florida Paramedic license within 2 years of employment.

Additional Requirement: Must be tobacco-free for one-year preceding appointment and throughout Fire Department employment (affidavit required).

Felony, Criminal Activity Disqualifiers: Criminal history background investigation conducted prior to hire.
Driving Disqualifiers: Driver's license verification conducted prior to hire.
Drug Use Disqualifiers: The City of Temple Terrace is a drug-free workplace. A pre-employment drug screen conducted prior to hire.

Minimum Qualifications Knowledge, Abilities and Skills : Working knowledge of firefighting and rescue methods and techniques; first aid, CPR and ACLS techniques, emergency medical techniques, practices, supplies and equipment; firefighting terminology; fire characteristics; standard firefighting and rescue tools and equipment and their uses; search and rescue techniques and equipment; the City's Street system and physical layout. Ability to clearly and effectively communicate, orally and in writing, and by use of hand signals. Ability to function efficiently under stressful conditions; lift, carry, and maneuver bulky and moderately heavy equipment; perform work requiring considerable physical exertion under hazardous conditions; and operate a variety of firefighting and rescue equipment. Ability to work cooperatively and interact effectively with all types of people in a variety of situations.
