Job Description

Summary: National Capital Treatment & Recovery—formerly known as Phoenix House—is a nonprofit behavioral health organization with over 60 years of service offering residential and outpatient care for people with substance use disorders. We are currently seeking a compassionate and dedicated Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) to join our Adult Men's Residential Treatment Program in Arlington, VA .

Please note: There is a required training and orientation period when you first start working where attendance and completion of all trainings will be mandatory to remain employed. Please ensure if you are interested in this position that you have the availability to commit to this.

Current Shifts Needed:

  1. PRN (working as-needed, picking up at least 3 shifts per month to remain active)
  2. Every Sunday 8am-4pm
  3. Every Other Sat & Sun 4pm-12:30am
  4. Sun 12am-8am

Pay: $30-35 an hour- with an opportunity to earn more based on experience, degrees, and other relevant qualifications.

THE PROGRAM:

The program is a 64-bed residential program that offers medically monitored and clinically managed intensive residential treatment services for adult men with substance use and co-occurring disorders. This intensive residential program helps break the cycle of drug and alcohol abuse and equips men with the tools needed to be successful at the next appropriate level of care.

As an LPN on our team, you will play a vital role in delivering safe, person-centered care during one of the most critical phases of treatment. You’ll work closely with a multidisciplinary team—providing medical support, monitoring withdrawal symptoms, administering medications, and helping clients stabilize in a supportive, structured environment.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Provide general nursing care services within the legal scope of nursing practice and standards developed by the profession, Nurse Practice Act, and regulatory agencies
  • Use professional nursing processes, including assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation, while carrying out nursing responsibilities
  • Communicate health care needs of clients to appropriate supervising staff
  • Respond to emergency health care needs of the clients
  • Monitors client supervision
  • Maintain adherence to posted schedule
  • Facilitates residential community groups as scheduled or as needed to resolve community issues
  • Meets regularly with Residential Structure to ensure smooth operations of facility and RCS
  • Supervise house checks on a regular and random basis
  • Coordinate shift turnover to ensure smooth transitions and dissemination of appropriate information to the next shift
  • Liaison for communication of clinical information between staff
  • Perform health screenings of clients
  • Collect and record data specific to the health status of clients
  • Assist in monitoring special programs such as infection control and medication management
  • Provides health care instruction and information to clients relating to the promotion of health and wellness.
  • Attend and participate in scheduled staff meetings as required
  • Responsible for maintaining ethical standards and continued professional growth, including
  • Abide by Program and NCTR policy and procedures
  • Ensure all CARF standards are instituted and maintained
  • Promote, in public and private contacts, the quality standards and ethical practices of NCTR staff.
  • Continue professional growth by attending workshops, trainings and staff in-service trainings to increase skill and knowledge and to set appropriate example for staff
  • Maintain current licensure/certification including FEAR, CPR, First Aid, and Medication Management
  • Maintain professional boundaries with staff and clients

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Currently licensed in Virginia as an LPN
  • Minimum of two years experience in addictions/psychiatric nursing
