The Maintenance Manager is a critical role within the District trucking operations. This position is responsible for the overall accountability for managing the maintenance of the truck fleet, trailers, and ensuring services performed are performed with the highest of quality and in a timely manner so as to keep SandBox’s assets safely and productively on the road.

Essential Job Duties:

  • Preventive Maintenance Programs: Develop, monitor, and ensure compliance with preventive maintenance schedules to maximize uptime and extend asset life.
  • Supervises maintenance operations. Plans and distributes the work. Delegates responsibilities as appropriate and monitors performance. Involved in reviewing personnel actions (e.g., hiring, promotions and discipline), and recommending appropriate actions to management.
  • Budget & Cost Management: Manage maintenance operations within approved budgets, track costs per unit, and implement cost reduction strategies.
  • Ensures compliance on a day-to-day basis with State, Federal and Company requirements.
  • Ensures all company safety policies and standards are followed and conducts daily safety meetings.
  • Mechanic Performance: Track and analyze mechanic efficiency, productivity, and quality of work. Provide coaching and training increase efficiency.
  • Fleet Reporting: Generate and review reports on equipment uptime/downtime, cost per mile/hour, average hours to failure of critical components, and overall fleet health.
  • Cost Savings Plans: Identify opportunities for process improvements, parts standardization, and vendor negotiations to reduce costs.
  • Facility & Yard Management: Oversee cleanliness, safety, and compliance of maintenance facilities and yards.
  • Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers, including onboarding, assisting in the negotiation of contracts/pricing, and monitoring performance.

Education, Experience, Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • High School Diploma; Advanced degree highly preferred Or two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and
  • Automotive/diesel repair experience
  • 5+ years of heavy duty diesel mechanic experience
  • Strong trouble shooting skills.
  • Strong verbal, written and computer skills needed.
  • Must be very reliable, able to work well under pressure and have the ability to organize and prioritize
  • Display a professional and courteous attitude towards all team members.
  • Possess a valid driver's license.
  • CDL with Passenger and Airbrake endorsements
