Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

We are seeking a detail-oriented Email Marketing Specialist with strong expertise in executing email marketing campaigns, writing and modifying HTML and CSS code, segmenting and managing contact lists, and mapping out automated user journeys. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in engaging our audience, improving conversions, and enhancing our overall customer experience.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Work with stakeholders to plan, create, and execute email marketing campaigns that align with overall business objectives.
• Develop, implement, and optimize email marketing campaigns to drive engagement and conversions.
• Execute the email templates using HTML and CSS to account for responsiveness and design.
• Map out detailed user journeys to create automated workflows and campaigns.
• Maintain and segment email lists to ensure accurate targeting and personalization.
• Analyze email performance metrics and partner with the data team to suggest data-driven improvements.
• A/B test subject lines, content, and layouts to continuously improve campaign performance.
• Stay up-to-date with industry trends, tools, and best practices to enhance email marketing efforts.

TECHNICAL SKILLS

Email Marketing Platforms (EMPs)

• Preferred experience with Iterable and HubSpot. Other platform experience can include Salesforce Marketing Cloud, Constant Contact, etc.
• Understanding of personalization and dynamic content integration.

HTML for Email Development

• Strong understanding of table-based HTML coding for responsive email design.
• Knowledge of inline CSS best practices for email rendering.
• Experience with responsive and mobile-friendly emails.
• Ability to code emails that comply with major email providers (Gmail, Outlook, Apple Mail, etc.).

CSS for Email Styling

• Proficiency in inline and embedded CSS for cross-client compatibility.
• Familiarity with email-safe fonts and fallback options.
• Knowledge of CSS limitations in various email clients.
• Ability to implement advanced styling techniques such as background images, buttons, and hover effects.

Email Testing and Debugging

• Proficiency in using email testing tools (Litmus, Email on Acid, etc.).
• Strong debugging skills to identify and fix rendering inconsistencies.
• Knowledge of email client quirks and workarounds.
• Ability to troubleshoot rendering issues across different devices and email clients.

Basic Knowledge of Email Compliance and Best Practices

• Awareness of CAN-SPAM, GDPR, and other email marketing regulations.
• Understanding of accessibility best practices in email design.
• Knowledge of deliverability best practices, including alt text, proper link structuring, and unsubscribe options.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Proven experience with CRM and CMS integrations.
• Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and email design best practices.

• Experience with copyright, editing and proofreading.
• Analytical mindset with the ability to interpret email metrics and derive actionable insights.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Client focused, with strong problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities.
• Excellent communication skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent time management skills to meet tight deadlines.
