The Central Coast Regional Water Quality Control Board (Central Coast Water Board) has an opening for a Supervising Engineering Geologist to lead our Groundwater Protection and Regional Monitoring Section. The individual coming into this position will utilize their skills, knowledge and technical experience in geology and hydrogeology, and their knowledge and experience in the Water Board’s regulatory programs and cleanup policies to oversee management of the Site Cleanup, Department of Defense, Underground Storage Tank, Land Disposal, and Oilfields programs, as well as the Central Coast Ambient Monitoring Program. Special Requirements

In order to be considered for this position, you must include the following:

• RPA# 25-130-030 in the “Examination or Job Title(s)” section of the State application when submitting a hardcopy application.

• Must have Professional Geologist (PG) license.

Must have Supervising Engineering Geologist list, transfer, or reinstatement eligibility and be reachable on the certification list.

Benefits

Water Board employees may be eligible for benefits. Health benefits and leave programs are available for most permanent, full-time employees, and some permanent, part-time employees. Statement of Qualifications

A Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) must be submitted along with the State Application and serves as documentation of candidate’s ability to present information clearly and concisely in writing. It should be typed, no more than three (3) pages in length, using 12-point Arial font , and normal margins.

Indicate your total years of experience when answering the following statements/questions:

1. Describe your knowledge of the Central Coast Region’s regulatory authority, programs and policies, including implementing groundwater cleanup programs and regional monitoring programs.
2. Describe your knowledge of geologic and hydrogeologic investigation and remediation activities; contaminant fate, transport, and control; water quality monitoring and management practices; and water quality standards.
3. Describe your experience defining program priorities and performance metrics and working with others to achieve successful program outcomes.
4. Describe your experience supervising, coaching, and mentoring others, including supporting professional development and conducting performance evaluations.
5. Describe your ability to work collaboratively with others, promote partnerships and share resources across an organization, follow through on commitments, and solicit and consider internal and external customer input when completing work assignments.
6. Describe your ability to recognize, understand, and adjust program implementation given the California state political environment and consequences of policy actions.
7. Describe your experience effectively implementing program and time management skills to achieve multiple due dates of high priority projects successfully in a fast-paced environment.
